HEP Overview

detroit_skylineThe Healthy Environment Partnership (HEP) is a community-based participatory research partnership with a focus on understanding and promoting heart health in Detroit neighborhoods. We examine and develop interventions to address aspects of the social and physical environment that contribute to racial and socioeconomic disparities in cardiovascular disease.

Established in 2000, we are a partnership among: Detroit community organizations, including Brightmoor Community Center, Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, Friends of Parkside, and Rebuilding Communities Incorporated; the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion; Henry Ford Health System; a community-member-at-large; and the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

We are an affiliated project of the Detroit Community-Academic Urban Research Center (Detroit URC).
