DISSEMINATION OF FINDINGS

wyhh_celebrationOne of the major commitments of community based participatory research is to assure the dissemination of findings to community members and through scientific venues, and the engagement of community members in planning and decisions about the application of study findings to improve health in Detroit.

Dissemination of findings from our efforts is guided by the Healthy Environment Partnerships dissemination guidelines adopted by the Steering Committee in 2001.

The Healthy Environment Partnership's commitment to community engagement includes, and extends beyond, the engagement of members of the Steering Committee in all aspects of our work. In addition, we are committed to:

1) Share relevant results with study participants through, for example:

  • Feedback forms with information about dietary and anthropometric (e.g., blood pressure measures, BMI) risk and protective factors associated with heart disease, and suggestions for reducing heart risk.
  • Reports and Fact Sheets summarizing key study findings

2) Disseminate study results widely within the community through, for example:

3) Work with community members to conduct community assessments through, for example:

4) Working with community members to interpret results from community assessments through, for example:

  • Town Hall Meetings

5) Working with community members to develop strategies to promote heart health through, for example:

  • Intervention Planning Team Meetings
  • Working with the Greenway Groups to a) develop grant proposals; and b) disseminate results from Greenway Reports and encourage their application.
