AIR QUALITY MONITORING (2000-2003)

We drew upon data collected by the Michigan Center for the Environment and Children's Health (U.S.EPA #R826710-01, NIEHS #P01-ES09589-01 and #R01-ES10688-03) and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to assess air quality in the three study communities over a three year period. These data allowed us to examine associations between airborne particulate matter (PM) and cardiovascular risk among survey participants.

Results from analysis of air quality and risk factors for heart disease are reported in Dvonch et al. 2009 and Kannan et al. 2006.
